Fitness vs Fatness
The fitness industry has really made things complicated. With so much information out there that contradicts, what should we believe? Is Keto the best thing for my health? Should I be doing CrossFit 78 times per week? The questions could be endless!
I’m sure we can all agree that our heart is what keeps us alive. The heart is a muscle and like the other muscles of your body, if you don’t use it, you lose it. So it’s time to use it! A strong heart plays to so much more than extended life.
When we get huffy puffy (our cardiovascular system) our lungs are screaming and the heart is working to pump blood around the body. During this process there is a really cool chain of events happening that you won’t even know about. Happy hormones are flooding your system whilst building your immune system, mental health, strength & mood.
So ultimately, your fatness isn’t as important as your fitness is! When we are getting fit, we are getting a healthy dose of anti-depressants, mood boosting, disease fighting hormones that flood our system making us healthier, happier, stronger and fitter.
Your weight is less important than your fitness is. So start there.
So what is the best exercise to do? The one that you enjoy the most!!! Aim to get huffy puffy every day (even if for just 10 seconds!!! Yep it only has to be short but full effort is required) and that could be by dancing as intensely as you can with the kids in the lounge room, maybe it’s walking up a steep hill or running, bootcamp, cycling, it really doesn't matter as long as it’s something that you can stick to!
If we spend 2-4mins per day brushing our teeth, don’t you think our heart could use at least the same amount of time?
